Overview:
Sound to Light collaborated with Milestone Inventive to deliver a standout visual experience for the 2024 Galway Christmas Markets. As part of a major seasonal activation in Eyre Square, we transformed the façade of The Hardiman Hotel with a festive projected story titled “Magic in the Eyre.”
For ten consecutive nights, visitors experienced a large-scale, immersive projection designed to elevate the atmosphere of the Christmas Markets and create a memorable landmark feature in the heart of Galway. This project formed part of our wider Ireland Projection Mapping services, bringing high-impact visual storytelling to public events nationwide.
Requirements:
Milestone Inventive required a custom-designed Christmas projection that:
Delivered a high-quality motion graphic show mapped precisely to the Hardiman Hotel building.
Played automatically every 15 minutes throughout the evenings in Eyre Square.
Captured a festive narrative that appealed to a broad audience.
Included expert technical support to ensure consistent and reliable performance over the full 10-night run.
The aim was to integrate creativity, professional outdoor projectors, and dependable technical execution into a seamless visitor experience
Challenges:
Creating this activation required careful planning and precise delivery, including:

Designing a festive animation that remained engaging, visually impactful, and suitable for architectural projection.
Ensuring all elements of the show — visuals, audio, timing, and transitions — ran flawlessly on a tight event schedule.
Projection Design & Execution:
Our in-house multimedia designer produced a bespoke two-minute animation that was projection-mapped across the entire front elevation of The Hardiman Hotel.
The content featured a charming Christmas narrative built around the theme “Magic in the Eyre”, designed specifically for the building’s architecture. This animation became a core focal point of the Christmas Market experience and demonstrated our expertise in both Ireland Projection Mapping and Building Projection Ireland services.
On-Site Technical Support:
Our technical team provided full on-site support throughout the 10-night activation. This included:
Precise projector alignment and calibration
Real-time monitoring to ensure seamless operation
Smooth transitions between show loops
Synchronised audio delivery
