Now in their 33rd year, the Gold Medal Awards are recognised as the leading independent awards programme for the Irish hospitality industry. Judged by industry experts, the Hotel & Catering Review Gold Medal Awards recognise and reward excellence in hospitality and catering operations across the island of Ireland.
On Tuesday, January 31st, the black tie affair was held in the Galmont Hotel & Spa in Galway. Nominees from all around the country packed the famous hotel with a mixture of anticipation and nerves in the air. Judges for this year’s Gold Medal Awards received over 460 entries in total to consider. These came from 150 hotels, guest houses, country houses, restaurants, cafés, bars and catering companies from across the country. An important factor in the Gold Medal Awards is the credibility and impartial nature of the judging process. Every property that undergoes this process is subject to benchmarking against a strict set of criteria. They also undergo a blind site inspection conducted by the judging panel.

How were we involved?
We were absolutely delighted to be chosen as the AV suppliers for the illustrious event once again. We provided all of the AV including LED Video Wall, Staging, Sound, Lighting and our Technical Team. So if you’re reading this and you liked the staging set up or how the venue lighting was arranged, we would love to hear from you!
The process began with our team creating a 3D render for the client so they could see how the venue would be set up. This allowed us to create a picture of the event space and illustrate exactly what was possible within it. 3D renderings are accurate, eliminating the risk of a venue that is too large or too small, or one that simply doesn’t work the way you envisaged.

In the end, it was The Imperial Hotel, Co. Cork that scooped the top prize for Supreme Winner. The grand boutique hotel is located in the heart of Cork city and is known for its stately rooms, varied restaurants and spa.
The hotel also nabbed the awards for Gold in Ireland’s Hotel Group, Silver in Ireland’s Guest Experience, and Silver in Ireland’s Hotel Breakfast. Elsewhere, Castle Leslie Estate, Co. Monaghan was named as Ireland’s favourite place to stay. The Markree Castle, Co. Sligo was named as Ireland’s Wedding Hotel. You can find a list of all of the winners HERE
